Happy to hear the Arctic30 are back home by now. Amnesty international is a support but not the answer as long as amnesty is not given to the Arctic lives ! Our insatiable appetite for fossil fuels and the corporate mandate to maximize shareholder value encourages drilling without taking into account the costs to the ocean, even without major spills.
Let us be good stewards of the Earth we inherited. All of us have to share the Earth’s fragile ecosystems and precious resources, and each of us has a role to play in preserving them. If we are to go on living together on this earth, we must all be responsible for it.

350.org who is an icon of climate safety, collaborated with Azir Moris in May 2012 for a sensitisation campaign at Le Caudan Waterfront about the climatic changes around the world and it’s impact on our lives.

350.org is building a global grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis.

This year Mauritius has faced severe lost due to climatic changes and imbalances. In March, 30th we were hit and drowned by flash flood caused by high amount of rainfall in 4 hours non stop! Lives were lost, damages were  consequent and psychological trauma still present. Climatic Changes no more a spoof but a reality felt on the island and around the globe.

Not latter than November 2013, Mauritian citizens have had seen formation of a number of mini-tornadoes and funnel clouds in our the skies which were well before never seen! Well I’m amongst the witnesses.

This is another clear sign that our weather and climate conditions are unstable. Getting freaky ? YES IT IS !

In early December two active tropical cyclones in the southern Indian Ocean, Amara and Bruce. Mauritius was spared but Rodrigues was not! It started with a cyclone warning class 1 until a class 4 where much damages were caused and Rodrigues still struggling to return back to the normal.

Rapid climate change will tend to decrease biodiversity of ecosystems since it favours those organisms that are less specialized and more generalists, either you reduce in number or go extinct.

AFTER ALL OF THIS MAURITIAN GOVERNMENT STILL GOING AHEAD WITH COAL PLANT, THE CT POWER  PROJECT ?

Since the coal plant project has been announced, Mauritian citizens took several initiatives to protest against the CT Power project by mobilising and organising marches, sensitisation and informative campagines and sessions, much more rigours actions , ect. Below are some photos of events.

After a series of citizens’ actions the National Energy Commission decided to study and deliver a report about the impact of the coal plant and also to review our national energy requirements. Here is the link with full details of the report: http://publicutilities.gov.mu/English/DOCUMENTS/NEC%20FINAL%20REPORT.PDF
The National Energy Commission highlights about the exploration of different pathways towards a sustainable energy future in line with ” Maurice Ile Durable ” which is a body looking into sustainable developments which was approved by the Government of Mauritius in 14th June 2013.  In ” Maurice Ile Durable ” policies and  Strategy Action Plans a specific goal has been set for Energy – to ensure that the Republic of Mauritius is an efficient user of energy, with its economy decoupled from fossil fuel.

In an island full of free natural resources how come COAL fits in ?

Fossil fuels have and will fail to lower energy prices today, tomorrow and many years after. Stop writing the story of planet earth with a drilling teeth putting at stake thousands of lives for your thirst and hunger of oil, petrol, coal and other fossil fuels rather go wise and start debating about bio gas and unlimited natural resources (wind, water, waves, sun, lightening )
Honnor the title of mother earth, honnor the right to be mother earth child, honnor the responsibility for a better tomorrow for the future generation, honnor your intelligence by making wise choices! Race against the time machine… Get wise and debate about Eco Energy!
